Al-Nassr forward Anderson Talisca could see his contract terminated at the Saudi side as it has emerged the Saudi side are currently not obeying the rules for how many foreign players they’re allowed in their squad.
According to a report from Spanish outlet SPORT, the Asian federation only allows five players outside of Asia in their squads for the Saudi Pro League season.
Following Al-Nassr’s lavish spending this summer, with Sadio Mane, Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo back in January of last season, the Saudi side may well need to sell some players to allow the new signings to be eligible to play in the Pro League.
There has been frustration amongst the Saudi fans about how the Brazilian has performed since the start of the new season as Al-Nassr have slumped to back-to-back defeats in the Saudi Pro League.
The Brazilian midfielder committed his future to the Saudi side back in April after he was linked with a move away from the club.
The rules behind his potential departure
According to the report from the Spanish paper, the Asian Confederation only allows 5 players born outside of Asia to play in the Asian Champions League.
The Saudi club are expected to prioritise Ronaldo, Mané, Fofana, Brozović, and Telles.
This seems harsh on the midfielder who has been superb since his move to the Middle Eastern side as he has scored 20 goals in back-to-back seasons.
It seems unfair that the 29-year-old would be sacrificed for the club’s newest signings.
Talisca could well have formed a good midfield three with two new signings, Brozovic and Fofana, but it now seems if the Saudi side get their way then the Brazilian will see his contract terminated with immediate effect.
