Seko Fofana, who joined Al-Nassr this summer from RC Lens, has opened up about his experiences in the Saudi Pro League and with Al-Nassr.
The Ivorian midfielder completed his move to Al-Nassr this summer and has become one of a number of players who have completed the move to the Middle East.
Fofana, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, won his first trophy at the Saudi club as Al-Nassr won the Arab Cup after a 2-1 win against Al-Hilal.
It was two goals from Ronaldo that handed the Saudi side the Arab Cup, for the first time in their history.
Fofana has been speaking about his experiences in the division so far and his words may well have proved Ronaldo right about making the move to the division in the first place.
Ronaldo might have been right
“I was told about the club’s project, the development of the Saudi Pro League. And in the same way as three years ago when I chose Lens, my instinct told me it was the right choice,” Fofana said when speaking to L’Equipe.
When the iconic forward made the move to Al-Nassr after being released by Manchester United, he received criticism after moving to the Middle East.
“I am excited to experience a new football league in a different country. The vision of what Al Nassr are doing and developing in Saudi Arabia both in terms of men’s and women’s football is very inspiring,” Ronaldo said, according to The Mirror.
With all these players from Europe making the move to the Middle East, Ronaldo was seemingly the trendsetter but his quotes, suggest that he may well have been right about making the move to the Pro League.
Al-Nassr, who finished second to Al-Ittihad last season, will be hoping to win the title but it will not be easy with potentially four sides vying for the trophy.
