Cristiano Ronaldo was rested for Al-Nassr’s 5-1 win over Ohod in the King’s Cup over the weekend.

The Portuguese striker was given the game off as he has played every game of the new season up until that point and was in need of a rest.

Well, the Saudi side obliged and gave him a rest but it was seemingly not an issue for the Saudi side who ran out comfortable winners at the end in the cup competition.

Despite Ronaldo’s absence, Al-Nassr named a side featuring a number of well-known stars, including former Premier League men Aymeric Laporte, Alex Telles and Sadio Mane.

Mane was on fire during the game and scored the first goal of the rout and looked unstoppable in attack for the Saudi side, who sit top of the table in the Saudi Pro League.

It was Mane who opened the scoring in the game, with Seko Fofana, Talisca, Ayman Yahya and Sami Al-Najei also netting for the side.

When will Ronaldo return

Ronaldo, meanwhile, will likely return to the squad for the weekend game against Al-Ta’ee following his rest on Monday.

The forward has netted nine goals this season with his side winning their last five matches following back-to-back defeats at the start of the campaign.

The influence of the Portuguese and the Senegalese forward cannot be overstated.

The pair have transformed the fortunes of the club and it wouldn’t at all be surprising if the pair won the Pro League title.

There is still a long way to go in the league season, however, but after a dismal and concerning start to the season, the team considered one of the favourites for the league title have finally shown why that was.
