Cristiano Ronaldo’s former teammate says the Portuguese star doesn’t want him to join Al Nassr, as new boss Luis Castro praises his star.
The new Al-Nassr boss joined recently in a bid to turn around the fortunes of the club who failed to win the league last season.
Castro is Portuguese and therefore expected to thrive with Ronaldo, and the two certainly seem to have got off to a hot start.
Castro has insisted that Ronaldo is still among “the best in the world” as he prepares for the legendary attacker’s return to training.
Castro told reporters of what a pleasure it is to coach Portugal’s all-time record goalscorer, “It’s always good to coach the best in the world. He’s on that team, as a man who will go down in football history.
“So it will be a pleasure to work with him, as with everyone else who follows him.”
Who follows him will be interesting to see, given Al Nassr have already confirmed the arrival of Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan. While Hakim Ziyech failed his medical.
One player who won’t be following Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia is Juan Cuadrado.
Ronaldo doesn’t want Cuadrado at Al Nassr
In an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio, Cuadrado revealed that Ronaldo “doesn’t want him” joining the Saudi Pro League side.
On a potential Saudi move, Cuadrado said:
“At this moment, I still have the passion and I like to compete.” Before adding, “Besides, Ronaldo is down there and he doesn’t want me!”
Cuadrado and Ronaldo had played together at Juventus for three seasons and seemed to have a good relationship.
However it appears not given the Colombian has been told not to make the move.
Cuadrado is a free-agent currently after his Juventus contract expired in June.
