Al-Nassr have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet, who has also been linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur following a loan spell last season.
The Frenchman joined Barcelona from Sevilla back in 2018 for £32 million, according to Sky Sports, but he has had a mixed time since moving to the Camp Nou.
The defender has only featured in more than 30 La Liga games once since his move to the Blaugrana and it seems his future lies away from the Spanish giants.
With Al-Nassr, the side which now has arguably one of the two best forwards over the past decade in Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane, now reportedly interested in the 28-year-old defender.
What would Lenglet offer Al-Nassr?
The French defender is clearly becoming a burden on Barcelona at a time when they need to make player sales and reduce their wage bill,
This must be done to navigate Financial Fair Play limits and register new players plus the fresh contracts of existing stars.
The Frenchman was selected for the Spanish side’s 32-man squad for the United States tour but did not play a single minute for the La Liga champions against AC-Milan, Real Madrid or Arsenal.
The Frenchman showed snippets of his quality whilst on loan at Tottenham.
The defender excels at what is required from a modern progressive defender. With his passing, progressive passing, and progressive carries being at a high level, he would be a superb addition to the Saudi side’s backline.
As well as this, with the experience of playing high-level football he has, Lenglet would be a superb addition to the Al-Nassr backline.
He would bring the experience and leadership that a relatively inexperience defence like Al-Nassr are crying out for.
Whether the defender would make the move to the Middle East at the age of 28, which is still in his prime, remains a question.
