Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq are eyeing a move for Al-Nassr duo Seko Fofana and Khaled Al-Ghannam in the January transfer window.
Fofana has been heavily linked with a move away from Al-Nassr despite joining them last summer from Ligue 1 side Lens.
The 28-year-old played an important role in Luis Castro’s set-up and formed a solid partnership in midfield with Marcel Brozovic so far this season.
However, the club’s stance on the Ivorian remains uncertain and local reports confirmed the Riyadh giants are listening to offers for the Ivorian as they plan to free up space in their quota for non-homegrown players.
According to Arriyadiyah, Al-Ettifaq want to bring in reinforcements in the current transfer window to try and turn around their recent poor run of form.
The Dammam-based outfit failed to win any of their last nine games in all competitions as they are now eighth in the Saudi Pro League table.
As a result, they have identified Fofana as one of their targets and are looking to acquire the midfielder on loan until the end of the season.
His teammate Khaled Al-Ghannam is another player Al-Ettifaq would reportedly like to sign this month to bolster their attack.
The winger made just one start for Al-Nassr featuring in their 1-1 draw against Persepolis in the final round of the AFC Champions League group stages.
Steven Gerrard will be facing competition however as Slaven Bilic’s Al-Fateh are also keen on signing Al-Ghannam on a short-term deal.
