Al-Nassr’s Sadio Mane has reacted to their thumping victory over Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League on Tuesday.
Despite playing the derby away from home, Al-Nassr were still able to beat Al-Ittihad 5-2 at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium.
The opening half saw the visitors come back from behind to lead through goals from a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty and Anderson Talisca’s skilful finish.
After the break, the game opened up for Al-Nassr with Al-Ittihad being reduced to ten men following Fabinho’s sending-off as Ronaldo and Sadio Mane added three more goals to seal a famous victory in Jeddah.
Speaking after the game, Mane talked about his side’s performance and the Senegalese took the time to reflect on meeting former Liverpool teammate Fabinho.
“It’s clear in the second half that we were better,” Mane told reporters after the game. “I think we didn’t have a good start in the first half and allowed them to create many chances.
“We made mistakes that we shouldn’t have but in the end, we played a great match and deserved the victory.
“Fabinho was one of my closest friends at Liverpool and he was my neighbour for years, so playing against him was not easy for me.
“Each of us tried to do the best we could, and today, unfortunately for him, he received a red card, and I felt sad for him,” he added.
