Former Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly hailed Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo and discussed his time with the Red Devils.
Bailly shared the pitch with Ronaldo after the latter’s return to the Premier League back in the summer of 2021 following his departure from Juventus.
After a loan spell at Marseille, the Ivorian left Manchester to join Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas before recently making a return to Villareal in La Liga.
In a recent interview, Bailly talked about Ronaldo’s second spell in England and believes the forward should’ve been treated better by the club.
“Cristiano Ronaldo returned, the legend coming back,” Bailly told The Athletic. “He was the best player in the world for me.
“Even when he returned, Cristiano contributed a lot to the club and a player like Cristiano deserves to feel important. It’s a shame he left in the circumstances he did.”
Ronaldo back to his best
Despite his Old Trafford exit, Ronaldo managed to rediscover his form at Al-Nassr as his move changed the landscape of the Saudi Pro League.
His transfer inspired the arrival of a number of stars in European football led by Neymar, Roberto Firmino, Ruben Neves, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and Riyad Mahrez.
Additionally, the Portuguese was able to finish 2023 as the world’s top scorer netting an impressive tally of 54 goals, grabbing two more than Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane.
