Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo collected his third Saudi Pro League Player of the Month award for his performances in December.
Despite suffering back-to-back defeats in the first two rounds of the league campaign, Ronaldo has inspired Al-Nassr to mount a title challenge this season.
The 38-year-old’s contributions also earned him back-to-back Player of the Month awards at the start of the campaign.
Despite missing out on the honour for October and November, he has now claimed it for the third time after another stellar month for Al-Nassr.
A bright start to December saw Ronaldo get on the scoresheet in Al-Nassr’s 5-1 league victory over Al-Riyadh before netting past Al-Shabab in the King Cup quarter-finals.
With three penalties shared between Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq and Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad, Ronaldo helped Al-Nassr remain seven points adrift of rivals Al-Hilal.
His late header away at Al-Taawoun was his seventh goal contribution of the month and his 54th strike in all competitions last year to edge past Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland to become the world’s top scorer.
As a result, the Portuguese beat competition from ex-Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and former Tottenham winger Georges-Kévin N’Koudou to win the accolade.
Al-Nassr will return to action again during their China tour ahead of their highly-anticipated encounter against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami on February 1st.
