Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to Al-Nassr’s vital win over Al-Duhail in the Champions League and reflected on his goalscoring record this year.
Al-Nassr overcame Qatari giants Al-Duhail 4-3 in the third round of the AFC Champions League group stages on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Anderson Talisca, Sadio Mane, and a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo sent Al-Nassr to the top of Group E in the tournament.
Speaking after the game, Ronaldo expressed his delight with the result and also highlighted the key to his consistency at 38 years of age.
“I am just enjoying the moment,” Ronaldo said in the press conference. “We are improving every game and the coach is helping us to become one of the best teams.
“I am happy when I score goals, I am happy when I play, and Cristiano is different from others because I work hard.”
With 43 goals in 2023, no other player has scored more than Ronaldo this year but the former Manchester United winger revealed he is not chasing records.
“I don’t care much about records, but the most important thing is that I enjoy playing, and this is the key to consistency in football.”
Al-Nassr will return to Saudi Pro League action on Saturday as they travel to face Al-Fayha in the competition’s 10th round.
They will be looking to secure all three points as they currently trail leaders Al-Hilal by just four points in the standings.
