Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss Al-Nassr’s upcoming clash against Qatar’s Al-Duhail in the AFC Champions League.

After a convincing 2-0 home win over Al-Khaleej during the weekend, Al-Nassr extended their unbeaten run to 16 games in all competitions this season.

The Riyadh giants will now turn their attention to Champions League matters, where they currently lead Group E with nine points after three games.

With qualification to the knockout stages in sight, Al-Nassr were dealt a huge injury blow before the game as two of their biggest stars have been ruled out of the clash.

Head coach Luis Castro confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is suffering from muscle fatigue and will be rested on Tuesday as a result.

“Ronaldo is tired after playing 120 minutes in the cup against Al-Ettifaq and then another league game in the weekend,” Castro said in the press conference.

“We still have enough attacking options to get the job done. Our aim is to secure qualification to the next round.”

A report by Arriyadiyah also confirmed that former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte was not included in the travelling squad over fears of aggravating an injury.

The Spaniard returned to the starting lineup against Al-Khaleej and played the full 90 minutes while also scoring his side’s second goal of the night.
