Former Italy and Juventus forward Alessandro Del Piero is reportedly set to be announced as Al-Nassr’s new sporting director.
Al-Nassr have made major upgrades to their squad in the summer transfer window after signing a number of key players from Europe.
Seko Fofana, Alex Telles, Marcelo Brozovic, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, and Otavio from Porto all arrived in Saudi Arabia for an approximate fee of £160 million.
The Riyadh giants also changed their hierarchy recently after appointing former AS Roma director Guido Fienga as their CEO last week.
Just days after his appointment, it seems that Fienga’s arrival could prompt the signing of another member in Al-Nassr’s management.
According to a report by Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Al-Nassr are trying to convince Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero to become their new sporting director.
Multiple news outlets have also confirmed the news and Del Piero’s first job in club football could take place in Saudi Arabia.
The 48-year-old was rumoured to be part of Juventus’ board after a disastrous season last year but the Bianconeri refused the idea of appointing a former player.
After officially retiring in 2015, Del Piero has only taken on punditry roles and has been studying for his UEFA Pro License in September.
His potential induction to Al-Nassr’s management along with Fienga is believed to help the club continue their exponential growth.
Al-Nassr are back in contention for the Saudi Pro League title this season and are currently fourth in the standings, just two points behind leaders and rivals Al-Hilal.
