Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is reportedly set to return and feature for Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League.
Ospina has been on the books of Al-Nassr since the summer of 2022 after arriving in Saudi Arabia from Napoli on a free transfer.
However, the Colombian has been out with an injury that kept him sidelined for nearly a year, which led to the club contemplating his departure.
Multiple reports confirmed Al-Nassr’s intention to try and offload the shot-stopper in January to free up some space in the wage bill.
However, he could now be making a shock return to the first team in Al-Nassr’s upcoming Champions League encounter with Al-Duhail.
According to a report by Arriyadiyah, Ospina has been registered by the club in the AFC’s Transfer Matching System (TMS) which may indicate his inclusion in the squad.
The report also added that he has fully recovered from his injury and returned to full fitness after undergoing two surgeries.
Head coach Luis Castro was asked about the 35-year-old before the game but the Portuguese manager refused to provide an answer.
“We have seven foreign players available and we will choose five of them,” Castro said in the press conference.
“I have no information that David Ospina has the right to play, so I will not answer because I have no information, but we will face a tough team and we want to win the game.”
