Al-Nassr manager Luis Castro has provided an update on Alex Telles’ injury following their victory Shabab Al-Ahli on Wednesday evening.
The Yellows had to do without Alex Telles as they earned a remarkable 4-2 victory over Emirati outfit Shabab Al-Ahli in the AFC Champions League playoffs.
Despite Anderson Talisca giving Al-Nassr the early lead, the hosts were stunned by Shabab Al-Ahli as Yahya Al-Ghassani netted twice to give the home fans a second-half scare.
The final 10 minutes of the encounter saw Al-Nassr overcome the visitors in dramatic fashion by scoring three late goals through Sultan Al-Ghannam, Talisca, and Marcelo Brozovic to secure a spot in the AFC Champions League group stages.
Speaking after the game, head coach Luis Castro expressed his delight with the result and talked about the recovery of their summer acquisition Alex Telles.
“We knew how good Shabab Al-Ahli are and how difficult the game would be,” Castro said in the press conference after the game.
“The players were brave until the very end and always had the will to win. We created 17 chances while the opposition only had eight.
“It doesn’t matter if you score in the first minute or the last. The most important thing is scoring and winning which is exactly what we did.
“I think we worked hard and were unfortunate at times. I always spoke about having a reaction after setbacks and I am really happy for the players and the fans.
“As for Alex Telles, he had sustained a minor injury in our game with Al-Hilal [in the Arab Club Champions Cup final] because he didn’t train a lot with us.
“I expect him to be back in training in about five days,” he added.
Telles is yet to make an appearance for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League this season after two defeats against Al-Ettifaq and Al-Taawoun.
However, the 30-year-old could be making his return next week when they host Al-Shabab in the fourth league round on Tuesday, August 29th.
