Al-Nassr head coach Luis Castro responded to critics following his side’s league victory over Al-Khaleej on Saturday.
Castro’s men earned a comfortable 2-0 win over Al-Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League’s 12th round to remain four points adrift of leaders Al-Hilal.
An early Cristiano Ronaldo stunner followed by a tap-in from Aymeric Laporte in the second half secured three vital points for the hosts.
Speaking after the game, Luis Castro hailed his side’s performance and also reflected on his journey so far in Saudi Arabia.
“At the beginning of the season, we were getting huge wins and they were all deserved victories,” Castro said in the press conference.
“We are always looking to be at our best, and we go into matches with a winning mentality. Today’s game was not easy but Ronaldo’s goal was beautiful and gave us the breakthrough we needed.”
With 33 goals scored so far this season, Al-Nassr currently have the best attack in the Saudi Pro League along with Al-Hilal, who have netted one less.
“When I came to Al-Nassr, everyone doubted my coaching background and talked about the fact that I did not work at a top European club so questions were asked.
“But everyone respects me now, and I am very happy to work in a country that loves football,” he added.
Al-Nassr will look to maintain their winning run when they travel to face Al-Wehda away from home on Saturday, November 11th.
