Al-Nassr boss Luis Castro has given an update on Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury after their draw with Persepolis on Monday.
Castro’s side were held to a goalless draw against Persepolis in the AFC Champions League group stages as a point ensured they would finish top of Group E.
Despite being reduced to ten men early in the game, Al-Nassr still managed to hold on and keep a clean sheet in the process.
To add to their woes, Ronaldo appeared to have problems with his neck after a late collision as he had to leave the pitch after receiving treatment.
The injury comes right before their highly-anticipated encounter against rivals Al-Hilal in the Saudi El Clasico next week.
Speaking after the game, Casto talked about the difficulties they had playing with ten men and also discussed Ronaldo’s injury.
“It’s unfortunate that we lost a player in the first quarter of the game because it forced the team to work harder,” Castro said in the press conference.
“We were still in control but we created fewer chances than we did in previous games. Overall, I’m happy with our performance considering the red card.
“Our 20-game unbeaten streak represents how hard we worked and it’s also a testament to our courage and commitment in the last four months.
“Ronaldo? It’s not looking good. The medical staff is currently assessing the extent of the injury but hopefully, he will be ready next week,” he added.
